Yes folks, the search is over! We have found our new member and our lead guitarist! Trey Wilson has been playing guitar for about 6 years, and it shows! The kid may be our secret weapon! ;)
Seems like COVID is starting to clear up a bit! We have more gigs than we know what to do with! We have a radio show we are going to be on tomorrow, and we couldn't be more excited! A lot of our upcoming gigs will be out of town, which will be great for exposure! I will keep you all updated!
Hello! It's been a while since I've posted last, and I thought I'd let you all in on what's been happening. We, as a band, have recently started going to the Open Chord for Open Mic night with a fellow named, Chris Marshall. We went on stage and played a few songs, and it went great! It was a really awesome atmosphere. The best part about open mic nights, is that you never know who you're going to meet. We met two local musicians named Redd Daughtry and Will Ross. Redd is on American Idol, and she is going to Hollywood for the next stage of the event. We basically met local celebrities. We also met a booking agent in the same night, who has already got us a decent amount of new gigs! Good things will be happening soon!
Last Saturday, we played our first official gig as The Shaydes! The first set of the gig was just Alex and I. We did our busking set that we do in Market Square, in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. If you don't know what busking is, it's basically playing music on the sidewalk begging for tips. Just kidding, we don't beg ;)! Anyways, after our first set, Pete joined us, and we ROCKED! People were cheering and singing along! Out of the many gigs I've played personally, this was one of the best. One of the ladies watching us play got a picture with me because she said on quote, that I "look like the guy from Sixteen Candles." It was an interesting comparison if I should say so myself. I hope she was talking about Michael Schoeffling, and not Anthony Michael Hall. Later in the night, we decided to quiet down, and do an acoustic set. It was a great way to end the night! I look forward to playing on stage again with my bandmates!
We recently drove up to Tampa, Florida to do a 12 hour recording session for our first three songs. We recorded "Don't!", "Today, Tomorrow, and Always", and "There She Goes", all of which were originals. Once we first got to the studio, we put together some instrumental tracks for each of the songs, then added additional overdubs with the time we had left. Our goal is to have these 3 songs ready for release by early February!
